Welcome to Topper Motel & Liquor Store

Topper Motel & Liquor Store, located at 1694 E Thompson Blvd in Ventura, California, offers a modest yet inviting experience for travelers seeking convenient lodging paired with easy access to essentials. With a 3.6 rating, the motel carries a charm rooted in its simplicity and the warmth of its ownership. The establishment is an older one but maintained with care. Each room features a comfortable bed and a good-sized television, offering guests a restful stay amidst Ventura’s coastal charm.

What sets Topper Motel apart is the attached liquor store, which adds a layer of convenience rarely found in motels. Guests can quickly pick up refreshments, making it ideal for those returning from beach excursions or day trips. Located just a block from the beach, it proves a perfect base for visitors wanting to explore the sun-drenched shorelines and local attractions.

The presence of free Wi-Fi and parking contributes to the ease of stay, though the motel lacks amenities such as a pool, restaurant, or fitness center. Yet, the honest appeal lies in its straightforward offering—a cozy place to rest and a friendly counter to share a laugh with. As one visitor noted, the friendliness of the staff and ownership makes a lasting impression, transforming what could be a forgettable stop into a welcoming pause in a journey. Still, prospective guests should be aware that experiences may vary, as a review mentioned a less favorable encounter, which reminds one that hospitality is sometimes as complex as the people behind it.

Overall, Topper Motel & Liquor Store stands as a slice of Ventura’s authentic lodging scene. It appeals most to visitors who value convenience, personable service, and a practical location near the beach rather than luxury. The small-store charm combined with a comfortable room and approachable staff evokes a nostalgic, down-to-earth vibe. For travelers embracing the laid-back coastal rhythm, this motel quietly delivers what matters most—simplicity, warmth, and ease.

The people that own and run this establishment are fair and friendly. If you get the chance. I would stay there.

It's an older establishment but the place is very kept every room has a nice television, comfortable bed and the convenience of having a store attached to the motel. The owners are a lovely couple and they or I could not ask for a better or more helpful staff.
